Jonathan and Caity met in high school when they were 15 and 14, even though they were in the same circles all throughout their childhoods. They even found out they performed in the same middle school concert years before! As teenagers, they dated on and off, but remained friends as they transitioned into different college experiences. Through their years apart, they would spend time together on school breaks and even periodically wrote each other letters. One night in 2017, while Caity was doing her best to survive as a first year teacher, she drank a little too much and texted her friend Jonathan about how adult life was hard and she needed a vacation. On a spur of the moment decision, she booked a flight to Denver to visit her longtime friend once her first musical as a director was over. She followed through with the trip and Jonathan picked her up from the airport and it was like almost no time had passed. On their way back to Jonathan’s apartment at the time, they stopped at Perkin’s and ended up ordering the same thing - biscuits and gravy. It was in like Flynn from there, but there were a few logistics to work out - like living across the country from one another. Caity’s first time in Colorado ended in a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park, where, on the way home, she swore up and down that dating long distance would never work. About a year later and after many trips back and forth across the country for the couple, she would find herself moving across the country to be with Jonathan. After a pandemic, a few job changes, purchasing a house, renovating said house, and even building a greenhouse together, Jonathan asked Caity to marry him on the 4 year anniversary of their trip to Rocky Mountain National Park where Caity said that long distance dating would never work…
